090: Engrossed

31 03 2010

When I’m too busy to take selfies, I take photos of random stuff instead, usually of what makes me busy at that time.

This time around, it’s my final plate for one of my subjects. My progress has been agonizingly slow, despite the fact that I’ve been working on it everyday since last week.

.

Sigh.

089: Dear God,

30 03 2010

Whenever I see sunbeams like this, streaming through the clouds or trees, I immediately say, “Ayun si God!” I’m not exactly sure when or why I started doing that, but I keep imagining a fanfare of angels singing and the Voice of God emanating from the sky through the sunbeams.

088: There, I make you look better

29 03 2010

It’s my brother’s birthday today! So here’s an old photo of him showing off his favorite books (The Ugly Duckling and a We Wish You A Merry Christmas that plays an actual melody) while I fix up his hair so we look alike. I wonder where those lawn chairs are now.

Some people are surprised to know that I have a big brother, because they don’t see him with us. He’s been living in the US with our father-side relatives for almost 3 years now. Then again, even if he were in the Philippines, he isn’t very present in my life. No, we’re not close. When we were kids he was always my anti-matter. He teased me a lot and if I wanted something, he’d want the opposite (e.g. I wanted to eat at Jollibee, he wanted to go to McDonald’s). When we were older the teasing stopped and was replaced by silence. He grew distant and spent more time with friends than at home and even if he were home he’d usually lock himself in his room. I let him be, figuring that he’d grow out of it someday.

I’ve never felt I had a protective, caring, guiding sibling. Then again, I could attribute my independent mind to his behavior. Hehe. Either way, he’s still my brother no matter what. Happy birthday, kuya!

087: Hopscotch

Running drills: before you run, you must learn how to jump. XD

These are strengthening exercise for various parts of your legs, c/o coach Jojo Macalintal.

086: It is in the Darkness Where You See the Light

27 03 2010

It’s Earth Hour and I’m home alone. I cooked myself some scrambled egg with tuna and rosemary and Chili-Mansi instant pancit canton before 8:30 then ate my food with only a solar-powered emergency lamp accompanying me.

085: With Your Cherry Lips and Golden Curls

26 03 2010

One of my favorite pasta concoctions is Macaroni and Cheese, but I never tried to learn how to make some from scratch. I love the Kenny Rogers Roasters side dish with its cute shell pasta, and I’ve tried this easy-to-cook kind where you boil milk and butter and add the pasta and cheese powder (apparently I forgot the brand name), but this Lucky Me Mac & Cheez takes the cake (or cheese)! For 15 pesos I get a merienda-size serving of lovely, cheesy comfort food. Cheap trip win!

I’d like to think that Were-Rabbit-Wallace is enjoying the cheesy goodness with me.

084: I Can Haz Curves?

25 03 2010

Apparently I don’t see this very often, thus the excitement.

Also, I love this shirt of mine. Pasalubong from relatives in Texas.

I also discovered something interesting in the freezer today:

hmmm…

083: Light As A Feather

24 03 2010

I took home a fluff (?) of Kapok which has been littering the streets of UPD recently, particularly at the AS parking area. I love this time of the year because it looks like it snowed (sorta)

The culprits, ready to take off

082: Ginigiliw kong Liliw

23 03 2010

NON-SELFIE!

These are the slippers I bought from Liliw, the so-called “Footwear Capital of Laguna”. I went there with some relatives a few years ago to go shopping. It is a lovely place! The (mostly) pedestrian streets are lined with shops of slippers, sandals and shoes, all locally made, and really cheap. I bought only three slippers, but I wish I had bought more. Though the rubber is pretty thin, they’re comfy and the banig insole is nice and cool to the feet. Plus, they’re surprisingly tough. After years of (ab)use it’s still in one piece except for a few threads hanging out.

One more reason why I love these slippers (and why I’d want to go back and buy more) is because I customized them with beads. 😀

Here’s the other one I beaded as well

081: Pinoy Ako, Pinoy Tayo

22 03 2010

I got this shirt when my dad and I went to watch the SEA Games dragonboat competition at La Mesa Eco Park. There weren’t any spectators, and I didn’t even know what countries were represented. We just went out of curiosity and the park was just nearby. This particular SEA Games marked the year when Pinoy Ako by Orange and Lemons became the national anthem played over and over and over and over again.

As for the mask, my mom bought some as souvenirs from the Maskara Festival at Bacolod. We have about 3 (or more) of these gathering dust.

As for the pose…. I cannot explain that pose. XD
